Why I Don’t Want Any More Ice Cream
a "health" agency approved additive is making people sick
I like ice cream, and it’s not that I’ll never eat it again. I’ll eat it if I make it myself and know exactly what ingredients are used, or if I buy it from someone I trust who is honest about the ingredients. The reason I no longer want to eat most ice cream—and why I also avoid cream in my coffee—is what I learned from reading Dr. William Davis’s book Super Gut.1 In particular, he describes a food additive commonly found in both processed foods and some vaccines: polysorbate 80.2
Polysorbate 80 is an emulsifier, meaning it’s added to foods to maintain their consistency and prevent ingredients from separating. In his book, Dr. Davis strongly recommends avoiding this additive as well as emulsifiers in general. He cites research, supported by clinical studies, indicating that polysorbate 80 can disrupt the microbiome and promote inflammation in the digestive tract.3
Multiple animal studies have shown that polysorbate 80 can alter the composition of gut bacteria, decrease microbial diversity, and increase populations of potentially harmful species. It also reduces the protective mucus layer in the gut, raises intestinal permeability, and stimulates chronic low-grade inflammation. In practical terms, emulsifiers like polysorbate 80 make the gut more susceptible to injury and disease.45

This discovery was devastating for me because, for many years, I used heavy cream in my coffee. Most commercially available creams contain polysorbate 80 or similar emulsifiers. If you consume cream, it’s important to check the label carefully. I also realized that ice cream labels might be misleading if they only list cream as an ingredient—much of the cream used is treated with emulsifiers. Of course, manufacturers likely avoid disclosing this because it’s not good marketing to reveal the use of such additives unless legally required. 67
It’s notable that some vaccines also contain this emulsifier. Since vaccines are injected and not processed through the digestive tract and liver, any potential adverse effects of polysorbate 80 might be amplified in this context, as there’s no “middle man” for detoxification. 8

Even if vaccines did not contain polysorbate 80 or other concerning ingredients, I would still choose not to take them, because intramuscular injections of any combinations of substances for the purpose of augmenting the immune system is dumb. And intramuscular injections are a dumb idea from the late 1800s. 9

Thank you for this timely reminder and great insights Renee. We stopped all dairy years ago…just didn’t agree with us. Found Goats yoghurt by local maker. They have grown their business and now supply supermarkets. Recently found that they are putting GMO maize starch in their yoghurt. We have stoped buying it. Shame, as it was the only thing I could tolerate previously which was also a great source of calcium...
No wonder the cancer rates are sky rocketing.
