I think this is more what the establishment wants us to know. My impression was that this discovery is controversial as it very much threatens pharma. Also, there is a lot of pressure to make the science center around genetics. It appears that there is an Intense desire by those in power to make everything aboury genetics. Especially now with their obsession with mRNA products. Inconveniently for these people, it seems that people could fix most of their health issues more easily and simply with fasting and metabolic techniques. It’s discussed at 1:08:20 for a few minutes - Dr. Merritt talks about a therapy that has been long known to help heal the body and fight disease. And it’s widely known that you should drink this/put it on the site if you’re bit by a snake and can’t get to a hospital. I’m not going to say what it is, I’ll let you hear it from Dr. Merritt.😄 Although it may sound gross, I think this is something that we all need to keep in our back pockets, especially those of us who are determined to refuse to comply and will eventually be denied traditional healthcare. This natural solution is readily available and free and takes no time to find…… :)
A high fat carnivore diet mimics all of the same effects of autophagy. This is particularly so when the diet is high enough in fat to keep the person burning mostly ketones for energy. Another plus, is that the carnivore diet provides relief from hunger for 24 hours after eating to satiation, (or even more if you "prime" for a fast in advance).
I usually only feel the actual "need" to eat once a day. If I prime, I can go for 72 hours or more with ZERO desire to eat anything. No will power needed because food (any sort of food) just doesn't appeal to me at all during this period.
Once you've become "fat adapted" (i.e., your body is now an EXPERT at burning fat for fuel) you can fast as much as you want WITHOUT suffering, without turning to willpower, and without a lack of energy.
Becoming "fat adapted" is when your body (mitochondria) has been HEALED and no longer relies primarily upon glucose for fuel. So now your body runs primarily on ketones, which is actually your body's PREFERRED fuel, particularly your brain.
So this means leaning in on ketogenic foods first. Or, you can just "cold turkey" and go right onto carnivore and perhaps have a period of what they call "keto-fever." I discovered that this fever (at least for me) was merely heavy oxalate (plant toxin) dumping, which happens quickly when you stop consuming plants. You see, oxalates are stored, and so long as you continue consuming them, they build up in your tissues. You can take the edge off of the sudden dumping by consuming just a tiny amount of oxalate with a bit of cocoa powder in a drink, (maybe with monk fruit sweetener and a bit of whole cream?). So this has been one of my "cheats." It really helps.
Once you're fat adapted, (which can take anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks, depending upon where you started) you "prime" for a fast by eating meat and especially animal fats to excess, even beyond satiation. Get creative. Add chunks of butter, and/or egg yolks onto your steak as your "sauce" (even make hollandaise sauce). Make yourself some ice cream from a pint of heavy, grass-fed, organic cream and 10 egg yolks, carb-free sweetener, and a dash of vanilla. Do whatever it takes to make eating MORE fat and protein palatable even after you're stuffed. Do this for even a couple of days, (I was eating over 6K calories per day AND losing body fat at the same time;-) and one day, you'll wake up and say "I don't EVER want to eat again!" And you'll be disgusted by the very idea of eating anything.
When this happened to me, it took over 72 hours before I could even think of eating. And once my appetite returned, all I wanted was a good steak. When you're consuming tons of extra fat, your body starts DUMPING fat, burning it OFF with abandon, so long as you're NOT also eating carbs. And once your body makes this switch, you'll have plenty of energy all of the time, no matter how many hours you've gone without food. Now, your body's ability to access and burn fat stores for fuel has been HEALED.

Then I found myself "hooked" on KNOWING I was getting better. Throw away the scale and counting calories FOREVER. These items do NOT help you in any way. If you "cheat" you'll NOT want to go ON cheating. And each cheat will get shorter and less without you having to "buckle down" or try. You just won't FEEL like eating other stuff anymore.
Down the road, (a VERY short way) you'll see your clothes are getting very loose and your muscles growing, even if you're not working out! The concept that fasting (which causes autophagy) makes cancer worse is a complete LIE. Fasting has been shown to reverse cancer. I don't trust ANY so-called "science" which claims fasting causes or worsens cancer.
I can vouch for autophagy reversing aging!! Three years ago at age 56 I looked at least 15 years older than I do today. Night and day difference. My health was at its worse, I had severe mental health issues for over two decades, suffered extreme insomnia, I was a stroke risk, I had hyperparathyroidism and severe osteoporosis, I was extremely overweight for my petite size (200lbs at 5’2”,) and I had been on over 13 medications for almost 25 years, all with terrible side effects that destroyed my quality of life. Two years ago I switched to the ketogenic diet and used ketosis and fasting to heal my metabolism and my organs and cells. I do intermittent fasting but I also fast for autophagy once or twice a month, at 48-72 hours each time. Within 4 months I was off ALL medications and had the energy of a 20-yr old that lasted all day without ever having midday drowsiness again. I have a friend who follows Dr. Fung’s fasting - she does two 48 hour fasts each week and she not only got her cholesterol completely under control, she also got off of her diabetes medicine. It inspired me so much that I decided to try one 48 hour fast weekly. (I miss some weeks or do just 36-40 hours some weeks.) It feels so good and it also has an effect of helping me to want to eat healthier when I do eat. And I love not having to floss my teeth the night after I ate nothing all day.😂 (I do from right after dinner one night until dinner 2 days later.)
I’m also curious about that comment that it could make cancer worse. I haven’t listened to Dr. Fung too much myself, but my friend listens to his weekly broadcast and she said he recommends a 2 week or more fast for people who have cancer. And she said he recommends a 5 day fast quarterly as cancer prevention. (if I remember correctly). I’ve never heard her say anything about caution on fasting too much.
