The Entitlement of the Comment Section
No Paywall, No Gratitude
Recently, a new subscriber started commenting on my posts. I tried to be friendly, but I found it increasingly difficult to keep that up—and this post is about that experience. The truth is, I’ve been a bit lost on what to write about lately, so I decided to reflect on this exchange that happened in the comment section of my last post. There had also been an earlier exchange on a previous post, where the same subscriber left similar comments that I mostly ignored. This time, however, I decided to respond. The end result? They blocked me.
It strikes me that people often misunderstand what the comment section is for. I agree that it can be a useful space to raise awareness or challenge ideas the writer might have overlooked. But, if the comment section is open and free, why use it to argue rather than engage with a bit of appreciation or respect? If you disagree with the content, why not just move on?
The subscriber went by the moniker “ACAB,” which, as many know, stands for “All Cops Are Bastards.” It’s meant as a signal of someone who questions authority. But if you truly question authority, wouldn’t you do that by asking questions rather than acting like an authority yourself? This person came across as someone who believed they knew best. They didn’t like supplements and wanted me to know it. I already gathered that from previous comments, so I wasn’t sure why they felt the need to remind me.
At one point, ACAB asked if I grew my own food—apparently assuming I didn’t because I had mentioned supplements. Here’s what I said in reply:
I like growing my own food, but right now there’s nothing growing. I am making some sauerkraut, though! I’d like to get back to gardening sometime soon.
In the past, I’ve had both laying hens and meat chickens, which I slaughtered and butchered myself. Someday I hope to return to that—maybe without the laying hens this time.
I think people often turn to supplements as a kind of middle ground. Many use them as alternatives to pharmaceuticals. Ideally, we’d get everything we need naturally and avoid supplements altogether, but many people face chronic health issues, and supplements can help.
In Super Gut, Dr. Davis shares examples of people who were able to stop using pharmaceuticals by following his methods. Maybe one day those same people will move beyond supplements too. In the end, everyone must find their own way.
I felt my reply was considerate and gentle, but it didn’t please ACAB, who then continued insisting that I was misguided about supplements. She even asked whether I used the feathers from the chickens for pillows or something else. I tried to keep the conversation lighthearted, replying:
I didn’t do anything special with the feathers—just threw them away. The eggs were the best I’ve ever had! Chickens are so much fun to have around. And yes, great bone broth too. I’m not convinced that supplements are the same as pharmaceutical drugs. Comparing proton pump inhibitors with probiotics (even in capsule form) makes me fairly certain that one is far more helpful—and far less harmful—than the other.
But ACAB wanted to keep debating. She repeated that “we can agree to disagree” and warned that supplement companies are owned by pharmaceutical corporations. While that’s true for some brands, it’s not true of all—and I chose not to engage further on that point. I also didn’t understand why “agreeing to disagree” had to be such a focus. I wasn’t trying to “agree” on anything. So I said:
I don't know. But if all pharma has to do to get you to not use supplements is buy the companies up, then maybe that's worth it for them. I'm not convinced shit will hit the fan in my life time.
She kept pushing, insisting her view was correct and others were wrong. I replied:
People are not going to stop buying supplements or taking pharmaceuticals. That much is clear to me.
When she said people needed to be educated, I responded:
People don’t like or want education.
What harm is curcumin doing to people, exactly?
She had no specific examples. Ironically, the article she was responding to was quite conservative about curcumin use. It even mentioned:
Dr. Davis notes that curcumin should not be taken long-term. As a natural antibiotic, its ongoing use could disrupt microbiome balance over time rather than support it.
But ACAB kept repeating “we can agree to disagree.” So I finally said:
The comments section is a place more so for questions in my opinion, or complements to the author, or maybe something thoughtful, not somewhere to bring in your authoritarian style education. It's disrespectful of you to make the comments you have made. I spent valuable time writing the article. If you don't like what I'm saying here then maybe it's not a good place for you to read. You act as if I am causing a problem. I'm just sharing information. You say you're against authority, but your attitude is authoritarian because your tone is as if you know what's best.
She accused me of being authoritarian for saying that. At that point, I’d had enough, and I told her:
That was where the exchange ended. I can no longer see any of her comments—either she deleted them or blocked me—but honestly, I don’t care. After all of that, I did think, “Why am I even doing this anymore?” But then again, I doubt I’ll stop. So instead of quitting, I decided to write it all down—for whoever might find it worth reading.
Thanks for stopping by,
Renee

I started to reply and my whole comment got swiped.
Thank you for this engaging article which has been most revealing, about who these individuals are who 'engage' then get aggressive, then argumentative, and then become very hostile.
I honestly think some have mental health issues, and some are narcissists, and others…well... I think AI has a lot to do with it, and 77th Brigade, because it throws us off our stride, and this attack threw you off your stride, and that 'energy' they transmitted reached you, put you in a tail spin, stopped you wanting to continue… for a while, at least.
But you are made of sturdier stuff, and you must continue to write because you are good at it and many appreciate your insights.
I block others who transmit dark, hostile, frequencies and it is worth us all considering how toxic the frequencies of hostility are when we permit them to remain on our posts.
So, from an energetic perspective, at least, you are better to block these types ( I know they blocked you but that is probably a good thing energetically speaking) because the harm leaches out from their Unique Energy Signature, which is laid down on your posts and like all snake wave energy, it starts trying to put you off your stride.
My Grandmother took supplements after the war when a door to door salesman pitched his vitamin wares. She never looked back, and lived to be 93 years old, as did my Grandfather who also took supplements.
Now, they may not be the same grade as in the past, they may be better, they may have lived longer, who knows, but what my Heart guided me to do, is to always 'tune' into my Heart and, before purchasing anything, to ask my Heart if it: "best helps all life to take it, and if so, who to buy supplies from?".
If I get guided it does, I purchase from the recommended supplier,
If I feel or sense any unease, I inwardly question and get the answers from within.
I have taught others how to learn to tune into food before they purchase at the store.
Try it at home with something you know you can eat and like, which has no side effects on you, and then try holding something which is toxic or harmful, that you are aware of.
Close your eyes and FEEL the way it feels while holding it.
What does the body say, how is it reacting?
My husband does most of our shopping and he has taught himself to tune into things this way, and he picks things accordingly, including not buying something just because his Heart told him at home eg a particular avocado was good for him.
The next one at the store may not be: depending on where it has come from, who handled it, who packed it, whether it was sprayed with pesticide.
The same method can be used for supplements, bearing in mind, brands can change their supplier, etc, so always recheck the inner guidance, in case things have outwardly changed.
I also kept rescue hens…they were, indeed, the best eggs! And the most fascinating creatures. I treasured the experience because I knew even hen keeping needs good health and it was getting too much for my health, to keep going with keeping them, but I loved it while it lasted! I learnt so much from keeping hens.
I also recommend that those who want to keep their health in tip-top condition, who are open to how toxic frequencies and energies from others, harm us in invisible ways, to always ask for:
"all food, drink, medicine, supplements, and even the air that we breath, to be purified"
before ingesting it.
A simple 'hand on heart' and focus on the Heart area, while asking for this in a sincere heart-felt way is enough to ensure that the lower vibrations of hatred, anger, hostility, etc., are removed.
You can go one step further and ask for:
"all malicious harm to be peacefully gathered up and returned to all those who are maliciously harming, for their learning.”
If more humans on the planet asked for this above request each day, a lot more could be achieved, in terms of dealing with all the toxic energy flying around 'free range' on the internet, and hitting anyone who chooses to go online WITHOUT doing some kind of protective work beforehand.
The online experience is a hotbed of toxic overload these days.
From my perspective, the best supplement for that is Heart engagement — a powerful, natural, anti-oxidant, and healer. Perhaps, most importantly, it is the first step to take on the road to better health.
Re: the hostile commenters — I get the same types, and I think many are positioned ( or used) to put us off our work because, to question corruption and cruelty, to support protecting the elderly, etc, to promote good health and research books by authors who are no longer with us because, maybe their work threatened this agenda, brings us into the focus of those who are maliciously harming all life.
I had one who I stopped engaging with, who followed me onto my other channel and would not reason, is just plain hostile. One can’t reason with those bent on judgement or arguments. It is wholly unhealthy!
Clearing their toxic energy off my channel became wasteful of my own energy which I wish to use to help others.
So my feeling is, that those types, whoever they are, are best kept out of the safe environment we are attempting to create for others to freely express their perspectives while also not exposing them to hostile attacks, which harm them on deep levels.
I feel responsible for other's safety in that respect because I know how much it can harm them. So I block, delete, do not engage once it gets nasty, it's time to put a stop to it.
You are definitely not on your own. Many thanks for this thought provoking and enlightening article! Keep writing interesting articles and don’t let negative reactions put you off track!
You are a bright light, a mirror, reflecting back your goodness and truth to others.
What they see is their own reflection, staring back at them. They don’t always like what they see. Remember that.
Yep, you got a doozy with that one 😳 You handled it better - and with more grace - than I probably would have... 😁
BTW, the Ko-fi drop I have scheduled for Tuesday is titled "What If I Am Wrong?" and touches on 'absolutism'. How's that for 'synchronicity'? 😉
Anyhow, great work! 🫡
