Make Sunlight Great Again

In July of 2020, speaking of the virtues of sunlight was dangerous "misinformation"

When Donald Trump suggested that sunlight might be used combat Covid 19, this made people angry. Much like anything that Donald Trump said, if it was uttered by Donald it was racist and dangerous.

Donald Trump is not a doctor and he is not a scientist. And on May 29, 2020, Trump announced his disdain for the WHO. He committed to an end of the US relationship with World Health Organization. This confirmed to many of those who “trust the science” that he is an ignorant pompous A$$hole.

What did this irrational hatred for Donald Trump do to help in the fight against Covid 19? Nothing. Angry, irrational people were adamant that anyone who might say nice things about the sun might potentially be a murderer and most definitely a racist and probably also a white supremist.

So the question is, is the sun a murderer? Is the sun racist? Is the sun dangerous? Or is it guilty by association?

A study printed in The Journal of Infectious Diseases on May 20th of 2020 tested the theory and found that the sun did indeed have the ability to neutralize this virus.

Through exposure of the sun we synthesize the essential hormone Vitamin D. The body requires a healthy amount of cholesterol, which is produced from eating saturated fats to complete this synthesis. Vitamin D is a crucial for a healthy functioning immune system. Is there an association between low vitamin D levels and the low fat plant based diet that became popular in the 1980s?

Sunlight is also valuable to us in regulating our circadian rhythms which allows us to sleep better at night.

In the 1980’s, as air conditioning and sun screen became popular, we started spending even more time inside. Dr. Stasha explains that sleeping disorders became more prevalent after this shift to indoor living.

Later on in the pandemic Donald Trump had learned his lesson and started to agree with his critics, recommending that people stay home, and stay inside, away from the sunlight. But strangely this time his advice didn’t have the same effect as his earlier advice. People did not decide that it was racist to stay inside just because Orange man said so.

Maybe in the end it wasn’t about what Donald Trump was saying, it was more about what people were told they should become deranged about when he said things that were not enabling the profits derived from P(Harm)a products. WHO knows?
