I’m getting rid of the “Upgrade Now” button!
Communication is essential during these times!
I wanted to share with those of you who still happen to be reading this blog—many aren’t anymore, and I don’t want to sound cynical or make assumptions about why that’s happening—that I’m getting rid of the “Upgrade Now” button (which I never put there in the first place). ⬇️ what you see below is actually a subscribe button, unless you are already subscribed!!!!

see this buttton? this is a subscribe button, unless you are already subscribed!
From now on, you’ll only see a button that says *Subscribe now*. That button will bring you directly to this post. You may, however, still see an “Upgrade Now” button here. That’s because you’re already subscribed, and Substack is inviting you to pay me. If you do, they’ll take a portion of that payment. I mainly use Substack to communicate—it’s not about making money for me. I only ask for support because Substack promotes the work of writers who generate revenue for them.
One of the main reasons I wanted to remove the button is because of how email sorting works. That “Upgrade Now” button—which, again, I never added—can cause my emails to land in the “Promotions” tab, making you less likely to see my work. I already know Substack doesn’t boost my writing within the app, so email communication is essential for staying connected with you.
Thank you to all of you who’ve stuck around for my rambling.
Love,
Renee
